This mind-bender is the most technically-challenging piece I have done so far. Here are two variants on how it was accomlished: I carved a 23.5 inch long dragon, then left it for the weekend on the bench next to the bronze casting of a walnut burl. To my surprise and delight, by the time I returned, the dragon had made itself at home through the holes of the casting and claimed it as its lair.
